Covid-19 is here and its serious.

The elderly and those with underlying health conditions are particularly vulnerable. While many of us aren’t elderly or may not have underlying health conditions, many of us may have elderly parents, neighbours or help care for someone who comes into the vulnerable category.

We are seeing businesses lay off staff and many industries are struggling.

There is a lot of misinformation out there about Covid-19 as well as information and statistics being misquoted/used out of context. This is not helpful to businesses or the wider community.

Get the facts right

Wrong is information is not helpful. Know your facts to help yourselves, your businesses and protect the vulnerable  Get your information from official, reputable sources. Many professional organisations are providing industry specific advice – use them. NHS England is another source.

If you want to develop your understanding The London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine have developed a free course on COVID19 aimed at people working in or around health, or anyone interested in how we should respond to the outbreak.  This course is supported by The UK Public Health Rapid Support Team (UK-PHRST) which includes Public Health England and the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine and is, funded by UK Aid from the Department of Health and Social Care. University of Oxford and King’s College London are academic partners.
